Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park was built on the site where the world's first atomic bomb was dropped on August 6, 1945. After the war, this scorched earth was reborn as a “symbol of peace” along with the city's reconstruction, and today it is a place of prayer visited by many people from around the world.

Within the park, there are numerous memorials and commemorative facilities, including the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. The “Memorial for the Atomic Bomb Victims,” floating on the calm water surface, bears the inscription, “Rest in peace.
