It may be the essence of peace that the heart does not ripple.
What is peace? Peace" as spoken of in the media is often spoken of in the context of national and international affairs. The absence of conflict is a prerequisite.
On top of that, there is certainly “peace” that exists in our daily lives, even though we cannot see it. Time that flows quietly. Peace is the feeling of being truly at ease, of being in touch with that feeling, and of a calmness that spreads deep into our hearts.
Peace is a state in which there is no fighting or conflict. It includes respect and consideration between people, and tranquility to face one's inner self.
For example, an afternoon when the sound of someone tending to the garden can be heard in the distance. Or the time when we enjoy a cup of tea in silence with the sound of someone else's hot water in the background. In these casual moments, we are reminded of the peace that exists in the here and now.
This sense of peace has been naturally nurtured through a lifestyle of spending time carefully in the present, without rushing or fussing. Knowing enough is also wisdom to avoid conflict, and is a sign of peace in our daily lives.
Peace is not a distant ideal, but something that breathes softly beneath our feet.
Each of us must listen carefully to the stillness of it. To be filled with gratitude for the small daily blessings.
By doing so, the world may gradually become calmer.
